Financial Aid Info and Book Voucher

Financial Aid

One of the main questions you're wondering is what to do after you get to UNCW. The Financial Aid office is there to aid you throughout your years at UNCW. You can contact a Financial Aid counselor by email, phone, or by stopping by their office. In order to get the most out of your visit, it is best if you know a little bit about your award and cost of attendance. Below are the instructions on how to go to UNCW's Financial site.

  • Go to seanet.uncw.edu
  • Click secure login for student, faculty, staff, etc
  • Login with your student ID number (850#) and your password. If you are new to the school, it usually is your birth date in a MonthDateyear format (MM/DD/YYYY)

*This information will be provided with your acceptance letter

  • Click on Student Services & Financial Aid
  • Click on Financial Aid
  • And then you can click on either:
    • "My overall status of financial aid" for a brief summary; or
    • "My award information" for a detailed description of cost of attendance and your financial aid award along with how much you have accepted.

*If you select this method it will ask you to select your aid year from the drop down menu.
*Then click on the award information tab and you will get a wealth of information

*Remember the overall cost of attendance includes miscellaneous expenses like travel expenses, cost of books, housing, etc.*

If for some reason you were unable to get your refund check before classes start and you need your books as soon as possible, there is something called a book voucher.

What you need:

  1. Get a total price of your books from the student store and write it down.
  2. On the first day of classes you can go to financial aid and request a book voucher which is similar to a loan.
  3. The book voucher goes into effect an hour later.
  4. Whatever amount of money you requested is then available on your UNCW Onecard.
  5. Go to the store and buy your books using your Onecard

*Any leftover amount, will be added to your expense account for you to use at a later date determined by the financial aid personnel that gave you the book voucher.
*This book voucher is a loan! Meaning you have torepay it. If you have not received your financial aid refund yet, then it will be taken from the amount of the refund. If you have received your refund already then it will appear as a charge on your account that you will have to pay out of pocket. *
