Off Campus Housing

Carolina Cove is a Great Option for Off-campus Housing

Most students move off-campus their sophomore year. But making the right apartment choice is harder than you would think. Wilmington has a high crime rate because it is not only a college town, but it is also a tourist town. It is important to find an apartment in a safe neighborhood. Areas east of College Road and further south and southeast of the river tend to be safer areas. There are only two gated communities close to campus. One of which is Carolina Cove Apartments at 4201 Randall Parkway. Officer Coburn of the Wilmington Police Department rated Carolina Cove as one of the safest off-campus apartment complexes for students. He reviewed all of the safety features including location, the height of the gate, no names on mailboxes and safety of access, lights in and around buildings and parking lots, no assigned parking, and sight views. Only residents can approve access to visitors. A three digit code calls the resident’s cell phone requiring him to open the gate for visitors.

The only downside is that Carolina Cove is under one mile from campus, so residents cannot purchase UNCW commuter parking permits. But there are convenient bus stops for both the Wave Transit bus line and the Seahawk Shuttle.

Carolina Cove has all the community extras:

  • Private Gated Entry
  • A fully automated state-of-the-art entry system is located at each entrance.
  • Resort-style Swimming Pool, Spa & Hammock Garden
  • State-of-the-art Fitness Center
  • Computer Lounge and Business Center with free printing
  • Game Room
  • Beach Volleyball Court
  • Basketball Court
  • Mass Transit
