I have one other recommendation for studying abroad. The earlier you start thinking about it in your college career the better! You are given so many more opportunities on where to study if you start the process early. Just go to an information session to help you start somewhere. You can find the times of the sessions online at the UNCW website.

Steps for Studying Abroad

Here are the steps I followed for my Study Abroad application:

• Attend a general study abroad meeting that are found on the UNCW home page
• Schedule a meeting with the study abroad office
• Schedule a meeting with your academic advisor to discuss classes
• Review the books with your parents to decide on a good location for you to attend
• Start the application process for UNCW and for the program you choose. This application for UNCW is found online under the international studies page.
• Start picking your classes you think you would like to take over seas.
• Once you have a general idea of the classes, schedule individual meetings with each department chair to sign your transient study.
• Get your official transcript
• Bring all your money and papers to the Study Abroad office when both applications are complete
• The study abroad office will sign some of the papers your program will ask for
• Apply for your student visa
• Finally, most of the stress it out of the way!

I know it is a really long process, I just finished mine. I will be going abroad in about four months! Good luck!
